The diary of the Japanese poet Sogi (1421–1502) “Shirakawa kiko” (“Journey to Shirakawa Barrier”, 1468) is analyzed. sacred place, sung in lyrics past, beginning song (utamakura). divided into two parts. This result development genre art renga (connected stanzas) poets. subject study prose part. It reveals an increased suggestiveness (yojo) artistic speech. In reminiscent variety, a picture intertextual discourse formed, significance literary tradition revealed. makes up latent layer text, covering entire narrative. essay considered as memoir diary, it dominated by emotional content (aware), dating back cult feelings aristocratic era. chronotope plexus times and spaces found, creating illusory vision reality reflection poet’s Zen consciousness. journey remains unfinished, affirming infinity path recalling rotation wheel samsara — cycle life death. illusory, changeable world affirms idea mortal existence (mujo), which has become fundamental Buddhist concept diary.
